Chapter 4: The Parent Lottery
Randy said he realized many of his dreams because he had terrific parents. What details from his childhood do you think led to the successes he had later in life? Are there lessons in Randy's story for people who've had less-fulfilling childhoods, or absentee parents? What advice might you give to those who didn't win "the parent lottery"?

ReplyDeleteA few details from his life that led to his success is that he was allowed to be extremely creative (Paint his room), he always had to find his answers, and the way his parents raised him. A lesson that can be learned from Randy for kids who didn't win the parent lottery is that never give up and try your hardest but also don't expect success. There are brick walls to stop people from achieving there dreams, they're for keeping people who don't want it bad enough out.

ReplyDeleteI think many details from his childhood led to his success. His parents let him express himself, through whatever! However one that we know of is the painting of his room. That right there says to me that his parents were very down to earth people, not caring about materialistic things or the bedroom walls for that matter! They kept Randy safe, and not only safe physically but they kept him mentally safe. Those who don't express themselves and live in a realm where everything is dictated won't know how or even where to begin on expressing themselves. I believe those who didn't hit the "parent lottery" should also be very proud and accepting of themselves. It's hard growing up by yourself in this crazy world. I give props to people who have had no help and grow up to be tremendous people. They support themselves financially, and emotionally.

ReplyDeleteYes, Randy has lessons on people who had hard time in there life but they can change that in their own way it just take time.
Trying again and don't give up on it always keep trying never give up. You should go and get what you want.
That if you keep your head held high nothing can bring you down.

I think that the reason why Randy had so many success in his life is because his parents let him express himself and learn that way. Yes there is and the advice I would give them is don't give up be creative and teach yourself because you don't need parents you are your best teacher.
